Mr. Nijmeh represented me in a very turbulent custody dispute for my son who was only two months old at the start of my family court battle. My custody case was legally complex and emotionally exhausting for several reasons which is why I feel compelled to share some details about my particular situation so that you understand how hard Mr. Nijmeh has fought for my child and my parental rights.

My custody journey began after my ex girlfriend was arrested for domestic violence against me in our home while our newborn baby was present. I initially tried to navigate the family court paperwork and legal processes necessary on my own but I quickly realized that I would need an experienced family law attorney for the following reasons:

I filed for a domestic violence restraining order (dvro) against my ex while she was in jail for assaulting me. Upon her release she filed a competing dvro against me that was littered with false accusations that made my head spin and my stomach churn. She was granted emergency sole custody of our son and a temporary restraining order against me due to her deplorable claims. I was terrified, confused and in disbelief.

In addition, my son’s mother was still legally married to a man who lived in another state. Due to the two of them never following through with filing their divorce, the family court self-help center informed me that I had no parental rights as the father since she was still legally married therefore her husband was considered the legal father.

I spent the following days calling every family law attorney that I could in Santa Clara county. It wasn’t until I connected with Mr. Nijmeh that I instantly felt like I was speaking to someone who not only was extremely knowledgeable in family law but he also came off as genuinely concerned for my son and ready to jump in and fight by my side to bring him back home safely.
